According to the "Daily" reported on December 7, Senegal's National Strategy Implementation Committee yesterday issued the "Strategic Plan for Revitalizing the Cashew Industry and the Coordinated Development Manual of the Cashew Industry Chain"
.
These two documents provide a master plan for the development of the cashew nut industry, with the ultimate goal of increasing cashew nut production, product quality and added value
.
According to official statistics of Cyprus, from 2018 to 2021, Cyprus exported a total of 82,000 tons of cashew nuts, amounting to 54 billion CFA francs (about 90 million US dollars).
Since the industry is mainly controlled by Indian and Vietnamese merchants, only 2% of cashew nuts are processed locally, and only 3%
of the value of the final product is left locally.
The Cypriot government hopes to strongly encourage enterprises to invest in the development of the local cashew nut processing industry, so as to keep more added value of products in the local area and provide related employment opportunities
