DIAGNOSIS
HAS NOT BEEN WELL DESCRIBED AND HAS BEEN REPORTED TO HAVE SYSTEMIC SYMPTOMS EVOLVING INTO "THREE-STAGE TYPES" OF INFLAMMATION AND FIBROSIS
BLOOD VESSELS, BUT HAS NEVER BEEN SYSTEMATICALLY EVALUATEDforward-looking recruitment of TAK patients from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Society for Clinical Research on Vasculitis (VCRC)According to the clinical manifestations at the time of diagnosis, the patients are divided into 5 categories: (1) only systemic symptoms, (2) cervical artery pain, (3) other vascular-related symptoms, (4) major ischemic events or (5) asymptomaticAssess relevant clinical characteristics in each categoryPrevious symptoms were also evaluated to determine if there are three-stage typesa total of 275 TAK patients were included in the(VCRC-208; NIH-67)Similar clinical manifestations were found in each queue: systemic symptoms (8%), cervical artery pain (13-15%), other vascular symptoms (43-47%), major ischemic events (28-30%) and asymptomatic (2-6%)The relative proportion of men in patients who are characterized as systemic or asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis is higher (p 0.01)Patients with systemic symptoms and major ischemic events are diagnosed at the youngestPatients in the asymptomatic group are the oldest at the time of diagnosis and are usually not treated (p 0.01)Recurrence is most common in patients with neck artery pain (p 0.01)A small number of patients who showed major ischemic events reported three-stage type (19%)TAK has a variety of clinical manifestations at the time of diagnosisPatients do not necessarily progress to the stages of the disease in turn
