In order to produce a self-healing coating, microcapsules containing flaxseed oil or its alkyd resin have been added to the epoxy substate
in current studies, microcapsules (MC) with flaxseed oil (LO) or its alkyd resin (LO-Alkyd) have been incorporated into the epoxy substate to produce a self-healing coating. The yellowness index (YI) of the epoxy film itself is 2.81, while the yellowness index (YI) of the epoxy resin membrane under THE and LO-Alkyd MCs loads is YI 44.87 and 21.98, respectively.
capsule embedding does not affect the continuity of the film
their SEM microscopic photos show that due to the successful interface capsule - epoxy adhesion, the capsule embedding does not interfere with the continuity of the film . The addition of LO and LO-alcoholated resin MCs reduced the adhesion strength of epoxy coatings to metal surfaces by 34% and 39%, respectively. By adding LO and LO-Alkyd MCs, respectively, the water vapor permeability of epoxy membranes increased by 8% and decreased by 43%. The electrochemical impedance spectrum shows that the impedance of the membrane increases by adding capsules to the epoxy resin.
