recently developed new drugs to inhibit protein build-up associated with Parkinson's disease, which has been confirmed in animal experiments to improve symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
the production of Parkinson's disease is thought to be linked to an abnormal build-up of a protein in the brain called α-synactal nucleoproteins, so far there is no underlying treatment.Research teams at
Osaka University and Tokyo Medical and Dental University have recently developed oligonucleotide drugs that inhibit the accumulation of α-synactoid nucleoproteins, which bind to and block the synthesis of the α-synthesized nucleoprotein gene, thereby inhibiting the build-up of this protein. In laboratory mice, the researchers found that the accumulation of "α-synactin" in the Parkinson's model laboratory mice treated with the drug was inhibited and movement disorders improved.
team said it expected the findings and methods to be a landmark treatment for Parkinson's disease and for its use in the treatment of other neurological diseases. The findings were published in the British journal Scientific Reports. (Source: Xinhua News Agency, Huayi)
