Salmon producer Leroy Seafood Group has laid off 339 employees over Norway's "resource tax" and blamed the Norwegian government
.

The dismissed include 158 employees at the Leroy Aurora subsidiary, 125 at the Leroy Hiltra plant, and 56 employees
at Leroy Fossen.

Leroy CEO Henning Beltestad said in a statement: "This is primarily an absolutely horrific situation
for our made-off journeymen and their families.
Unfortunately, layoffs will also affect our suppliers and customers
.

"Although we have been concentrating on working for more than a month to sign new contracts with customers, we have not been successful

Long-term contracts were required to process salmon, but the market almost completely disappeared
after the government proposed a threefold tax increase.
We can no longer offer jobs to many of our employees, and we have no choice but to issue redundancy notices
