17 (Sputnik) -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said in an interview with Sputnik News Agency that anti-Russian sanctions led to a 38% year-on-year decline in fertilizer exports from March to September this year, and international buyers lost nearly 8 million tons of fertilizer supplies
.
He stressed that despite verbal announcements by the United States and the European Union to exclude Russian agricultural products, including fertilizers, from unilateral sanctions lists, the fact is that Russian producers and suppliers continue to face the blocking effect of overcompliance sanctions, which are essentially bans on insurance, transportation and bank payments
.
.
"Between March and September this year, Russia's fertilizer exports to the global market fell by 38% compared to the same period last year, and importing countries lost 8 million tons of production, which is enough to produce 25 million tons of grain and feed 105 million people
