    Objectives: To evaluate nailfold video capillary technique (NVC) as a useful tool to assess disease activity in anti- neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV)

    Methods: The study included 51 patients with AAV and 21 healthy contro.


    NVC results for semiquantitative scoring of disease activity indicators for skin biopsy histopathology for high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scoring

    RESULTS: 76% (36/51) had microvascular lesions, and 8% (4/51) had scleroder.


    Abnormal NVC correlates with severity of skin, lung, and kidney involvement The giant capillary score correlates significantly with the total vasculitis activity score (BVAS) and thoracic BVAS The capillary loss score correlates with thoracic BVAS and renal BVAS

    Microbleeding scores were significantly associated with perivascular inflammatory cell infiltration in the upper dermis of purpura and tended to be associated with ground-glass gross opacity and consolidation scores on HR.

    Conclusions: In patients with AAV, abnormal NVC was significantly associated with disease severity
