Recently, the team of Professor Wan Xiangyuan of the University of Science and Technology Beijing published an online review article in Acta Agronomica Sinica (English Edition), systematically summarizing the key role and molecular regulatory network of glycometabolism GMS genes in plant pollen formation and fertility development.
This review summarizes the reported glycometabolism GMS genes cloned in 62 plants, and systematically summarizes their important roles in plant pollen formation and fertility development, including the formation of callose wall and primary outer wall of pollen mother cells, and the development of pollen inner wall.
This article will help to analyze the molecular mechanism of sugar metabolism controlling plant pollen development and male sterility, and at the same time provide a reference for the molecular design and breeding of new sterile technology systems related to crop sugar metabolism
