Research shows that puppies are naturally good at communicating with people |
Anyone who has been in contact with dogs knows that their ability to communicate with people is amazing.
"Our research has shown that puppies respond to human eyes and can use the information provided by humans in social environments.
The study also found that more than 40% of the differences in dog-related abilities can be explained by genes.
"This is a very high number, roughly the same as the estimation of human intelligence inheritance.
For the past 10 years, Bray and colleagues have been collaborating with canine partners to conduct research on dogs.
In order to understand whether a dog's communication ability can be explained by biology, the researchers analyzed hundreds of service puppies of the same age they had contacted.
The results of the study showed that the puppy was very good at relying on gestures and eye contact for social communication from the beginning.
"From an early age, dogs have shown social skills similar to humans.
In the next step, the researchers plan to identify some specific genes that cause these behaviors.
