    Recently, a study published in the journal Radiology applied QSM to longitudinally quantify SvO2 in acute ischemic stroke brain MRI, quantitatively analyze its changes in 2-week follow-up after standardized treatment , and further evaluate the effect of SvO2 on clinical outcomes .
    The impact of prognosis provides valuable imaging technical support for early clinical assessment of AIS .

    Between 2016 and 2020, this study retrospectively enrolled patients with AIS who underwent brain MRI scans within 24 hours of symptom onset and within 2 weeks of treatment .


    The SvO2 of APCV was quantified using QSM .

    Paired samples t-tests were used to assess the dynamics of SvO 2 2 .
    Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between dynamic changes in SvO 2 2 and hypoperfusion, changes in NIHSS scores, and 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores .
    Independent samples t-test was used to compare the dynamic changes of SvO 2 2 between different clinical prognosis and outcome subgroups .


    APCV was detected on admission in 39 of 73 patients (mean age 70 years ± 10 [standard deviation]; 49 males) and disappeared on 2-week follow-up MRI in 35 patients

    In conclusion, this feasibility study shows that the dynamic changes of APCVs can reflect the oxygen utilization and regulation after acute ischemic stroke (AIS), and the improvement of cerebral venous oxygen saturation (SvO 2 2 ) in patients with AIS is related to APCVs at follow-up The prognosis of the disappearing patients echoed well .
    Although our study samples varied widely in clinical presentation and treatment, this study could consistently detect an increase in SvO2 across the entire APCVs area , demonstrating the real - world feasibility and applicability of using QSM to monitor SvO2 .
