Yair Mina and others in the National Nervous System Disease Research under NIH in the United States explored the comparison between patients with well-controlled HIV infection and HIV-free Compared with the group (CWOH), the frequency, severity and clinical relevance of white matter hyperintensity lesions (WMH).
They included 203 PLWH patients with well-controlled infection (antiretroviral therapy for at least one year and plasma viral load <200 copies/ml), and 58 PLWH and sociodemographically matched HIV-free control groups (CWOH) .
