Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is an important chemical raw material.
Mainly used in the production of organic glass (PMMA), polyvinyl chloride additives ACR, methyl methacrylate-styrene-butadiene copolymer (MBS), etc.
Driven by the growth of domestic light guide plates, optical fibers, liquid crystal displays, water-based coatings and other downstream markets, my country's methyl methyl methyl (MMA) industry has been booming in recent years.
At present, the production technology of MMA in my country is the coexistence of the acetone cyanohydrin method (ACH method) and the isobutylene method (C4 method).
At the same time, the ethylene method and the methyl acetate method have also passed the pilot stage.
The acetone cyanohydrin process technology is relatively mature, stable and simple, accounting for about 60% of my country's.
But the shortcomings are also obvious: the raw material hydrocyanic acid is a highly toxic substance, and the process of producing hydrocyanic acid by methanol ammoxidation is limited, and it can only be obtained from the by-product of the acrylonitrile plant, making MMA production affected by the acrylonitrile plant.
At the same time, acetone cyanohydrin needs to be treated with concentrated sulfuric acid to generate methacrylamide sulfate, which produces a large amount of waste acid liquid by-product, and it is necessary to build expensive waste acid regeneration (SAR) equipment.
The isobutylene oxidation method is a relatively green and environmentally friendly synthesis process.
At present, my country's newly-built MMA devices are mainly based on the isobutylene method, and a batch of C4 route MMA technologies with independent intellectual property rights represented by Huayi Group have been formed.
With the demand for conversion of MTBE projects in my country and the continuous innovation of the C4 process, considering the raw material resources, environmental protection, production costs and economic benefits, the C4 system MMA will gradually grow and become the dominant route.
In addition, the pilot plant of methyl acetate and formaldehyde to methyl methacrylate (MMA) independently developed by Beijing Xuyang Technology Co.
    , Ltd.
    was successfully started up.
On October 1, 2018, the coal-based new process route developed by Henan Chemical Group Research Institute, Zhongyuan Dahua and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Process Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences progressed smoothly and produced qualified products.
