It's no surprise that PPG coatings that protect and beautify the world have become one of New York's most famous landmarks and the paint of choice for Hudson Yards, the city's largest private real estate development
Housed in the iconic buildings that make up the "Big Apple" (a landscape design of a large climbing staircase), Hudson Yards is one of Manhattan's most sought-after real estate projects on 28 acres.
PPG coatings protect many of New York City's precious landmarks, including the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Freedom Tower, and more.
PPG's metallic coatings play an integral role in the exterior and interior components of at least three towers (six in total)
55 Hudson Yards
One of the first skyscrapers to be powder-coated
55 Hudson Yards is probably the most famous of the three landmark buildings that PPG Coating has protected in this grand historic project
Designed by Kohn Pederson Fox Associates (KPF Architects) and painted by Spectrum Metal Coatings (PPG CAP Certified Authorized Painter), the 51-story building used nearly 20,000 pounds of flat and PPG Coraflon® fluorocarbon powder coating of textured powder
PPG Coraflon powder coatings are formulated with FEVE resins and offer a satin finish in plain and mica colors, as well as a high gloss finish
The upcoming Coraflon® Platinum powder in China has a wider gloss range from 5 to 85 (traditional FEVE gloss range from 25 to 70), better corrosion resistance, and higher gloss than standard FEVE powders 20% powder rate

PPG Duracron® Interior Custom Colors
35 Hudson Yards is the tallest of the three buildings, with 92 floors
.
The project is a residential tower designed by world famous skyscraper architects - David Childs, Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM Architects)
.
The interior of the building's podium contains more than 25,000 pounds of coated aluminum profiles that were made into smooth patio handrails and railings, and was finished with PPG Duracron® coating by Keymark Corp.

Working with the designer, and with the help of PPG Color Services, the PPG team customized the interior color for the client, echoing the other surface materials used throughout the upscale skyscraper

15 Hudson Yards
Decades of protection from PPG Duranar®
The first residential tower to open in the development is the 70-story 15 Hudson Yards, which features a striking "bodysuit tower" designed by Diller, Scofidio + Renfro Architects
.
Working with Keymark Corp, an authorized PPG-certified sprayer, architects and developer owners, the PPG team developed two custom colors specifically for the client, one for the exterior façade and one for the interior façade
.
PPG Duracron coating is used for interior and PPG Duranar coating is used for exterior
.
Even in the most challenging environments, PPG Duranar coatings retain their original color and gloss for decades
.
PPG Duranar coatings are based on 70% PVDF resins and specially formulated PPG resins and pigments that meet the industry's most stringent FGIA/AAMA 2605 weatherability standards
