The Philippine government said in its latest report to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) that 17 more bird flu outbreaks were detected , 16 of which were caused by HPAI,Business Mirror reported on March 28.
More than 60,000 poultry have died from avian influenza caused by the H5N1 strain .
To curb the spread of bird flu, the Philippines has culled more than 40,000 poultry, mostly ducks and quails .
