Peru's agricultural exports totalled $7,487m in 2020, up 6 per cent year-on-year, with the US the biggest buyer and Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in The top 10, according to the latest figures from the Association of Peruvian Exporters.
Peruvian Andean newspaper reported on February 7th that the export achievement had a lot to do with the "Ley de Promoción Agraria", creating jobs, reducing poverty and making Peru an important food country.
for export destinations, Peruvian agricultural products exported to 140 markets last year, 10 fewer than in 2019, including Mauritania and Maldives, but also successfully opened markets such as Libya, New Caledonia and Tokelau.
The United States was the largest buyer of Peruvian agricultural products, with exports of $2.45 billion, followed by the Netherlands and Spain, with exports to the United Kingdom and Ecuador also performing well, with Chile, Chinese mainland, Colombia, Hong Kong and Canada among the other top 10 markets.
For primary agricultural products, Peru's exports last year were $724 million, down 6.3 per cent year-on-year;
exports of agricultural products amounted to US$6,763 million, an increase of 7 per cent over 2019 and accounting for 90.3 per cent of total agricultural exports.
's main exports were grapes, with exports amounting to US$1,045 million, or 15.5 per cent, up 19.1 per cent year-on-year.
