At the European exhibition, which opens in March 2019, Zhanxin Resin unveiled a series of new initiatives on sustainable development and attracted attention, with speculation that Zhanxin's high-profile reaffirmation of the concept was partly related to its merger with Newpeth three years ago. The integration of the concept of sustainable development is related to sublimation, and in support of this statement, the reporter interviewed Stephanie Heng, Director of Global Communications for Zhanxin Resin, on World Environment Day and asked her to answer questions about Zhanxin's sustainability strategy.

"China Paint": Zhanxin this time in particular launched a new wave of sustainable development concept on a global scale, what are the considerations behind it?
: With the merger of Zhanxin and Newpeth in September 2016, the company employs 4,000 people worldwide, has 33 production sites in different countries, with annual sales of EUR 2.1 billion and, more importantly, the two companies prior to the merger With its own understanding and definition of sustainability, how to bring the two companies' sustainability concepts together and ultimately create value for our customers and industries and become the company's core culture is an important issue, which is one of the important reasons why Zhanxin is focusing on reaffirming our sustainability philosophy to the outside world.
China Paint: Many people think that the sustainable development of an enterprise is to ensure that their products are green, environmental protection, pollution-free, efficient and orderly internal operation of enterprises, so understanding is one-sided? How does Zhanxin understand sustainable development?
Stéphanie Heng: Sustainability is Zhanxin's core strategy, but it is not new, as in the 1960s, Zhanxin pioneered the development of water-based coating resin technology, so we want to be an important partner for our customers to help them achieve sustainable development goals, but also hope that customers believe Zhanxin can provide them with green, environmentally friendly products.
Zhanxin's values of sustainable development are concretely demonstrated in four ways, one is a commitment to protect the planet, and the other is that as a coating resin company, our focus is on providing environmentally friendly solutions in the field of industrial coatings to help customers stay ahead of or better than evolving regulations. Together, we will be able to help the industry transition to a more sustainable future. Third, Zhanxin has a long history of innovating sustainable solutions. We focus on green product development and promote open collaboration and cooperation with external parties. : What achievements have Zhanxin made in sustainable development? What goals do you want to achieve in the future? What is the means of implementation?
: On January 1, 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by world leaders at the historic United Nations summit entered into force. Of these 17, Zhanxin was able to make a positive impact and work towards this goal, mainly 7, 12 and 13, namely, cheap and clean energy, responsible consumption and production, and climate action.

: Starting in 2019, Zhanxin has stepped up its efforts to promote the concept of sustainable development, and we have held a series of events both inside and outside. Zhanxin has set up a special "Spring Day Action", our first event on March 21 this year, during the European Paint Show, we announced that we will hold an event on this day every year to celebrate, commemorate and consolidate Zhanxin's concept of sustainable development in people's hearts. Internally, we will encourage employees to reduce the use of disposable items, such as paper cups, chopsticks, etc., we will also encourage employees to plant trees within their means, more use of public transport such as bicycles, and replace private cars and other ways to establish a green concept, everyone can do some small things, can be sustained to achieve the great goal of sustainable development.
