The newspaper La Repubblica reported on December 17: Palm oil and soybean oil have brought significant export earnings
to Nepal in the past few years.
In the first four months of the fiscal year, exports of these two commodities declined

According to Nepal's central bank (NRB), exports of palm oil fell by 47.
3% and soybean oil by 79.

during the period under review.

Nepali traders mainly import palm oil raw materials from Indonesia, Argentina, Malaysia and Singapore, and soybean crude oil from Ukraine, Brazil and Argentina, which is processed and packaged for sale
in the Indian market.
A few months ago, the Indian government increased tariffs on edible oil imports from Nepal, which put a large number of Nepalese businessmen in a difficult
situation.
