From SeafoodNews on December 21, the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Fisheries announced that it will increase the quota of snow crabs in 2023, with a total quota of 7,790 tons, an increase of 1,065 tons
over 2022.

According to the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture's "fishing quota flexibility" from 2022, the total quota will be reduced by 673 tons, with another 62 tons used for research

The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research has proposed extending the term of protection by two months, from the current period of protection from 1 July to 31 October, to 1 July to 31 December

The Marine Institute also recommends the use of degradable threads in fishing nets to prevent "ghost fishing"
where accidental deaths due to loss of fishing gear can occur.

In October, Norway exported 231 tonnes of snow crabs worth NOK 33 million, with the largest markets for Norwegian snow crabs being the United States, Canada and Denmark
