Recently, the reporter learned from the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration that the "North 996" scientific research ship successfully returned and berthed safely at the Nanshan Port Scientific Research Wharf, its home port

The "North 996" deep-sea equipment comprehensive test ship is one of the important contents of the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" construction project.

The ship has a length of 100 meters, a width of 32 meters, a draft of 7.

It is reported that thanks to the advanced small waterplane area catamaran design and huge tonnage, the ship has withstood the inspection of the turbulent waves in the South China Sea during the test mission.

The relevant person in charge of the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration said that the successful completion of this test indicates that the ship has fully equipped with the ability to support the deep sea scientific research test
