Great Wall International Cardiology Society and Asia Pacific Heart Conference is currently being held in Beijing. The Nestle Research Center and the Great Wall International Society of Cardiology jointly organized an academic seminar. The theme of the seminar is Nutrition for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health.healthy lifestyle plays an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and lifestyle intervention is an important part of prevention and clinical treatment. Therefore, chinese and foreign experts were invited to discuss the research and application of nutrition and exercise in promoting cardiovascular health and controlling cardiovascular and metabolic health risk factors. At the seminar, Professor Hu Dayi, Chairman of the Great Wall International Conference on Cardiology, delivered an opening speech, chaired by Professor Wu Zhaosu, President of the China Hypertension Alliance, and Professor Zhu Zhiming, Director of the Hypertension and Metabolic Disease Center of the Third Military Medical University.The keynote speaker of the seminar, Professor Wu Yangfeng of Peking University's Institute of Clinical Studies and School of Public Health, gave a presentation entitled "Community-based healthy lifestyle interventions in the management of chronic noncommunicable diseases in China", describing the significant effects of dietary and lifestyle interventions on controlling the risk of cardiovascular disease in the general population and preventing cardiovascular disease (

).Jianqin, from Fudan University's East China Hospital, presented her research, The Role of Phytosterols in Lipid Metabolism in Patients with Hypercholesterolemia. The study is the first to show the positive effects of adding phytosterols to dairy products in people with marginal hypercholesterolemia in China. Phytosterol intake has been shown to be an effective nutritional treatment for controlling high total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, and its effects have been supported by many academic authorities (e.g. the European Food Safety Authority and the United States Food and Drug Administration).
