MeCP2 (methyl CpG binding protein 2) is a key component of heterogeneous chromatin and plays an important role in chromosomal maintenance and transcription silence. !----mutation in MeCP2 can lead to Rett syndrome (RTT), a postnatal neurodevelopmental disorder associated with severe mental disabilities and autism-like symptoms, which can be shown in early childhood in sick girls.heterogeneous chromatin, long considered a tight and relatively static structure, has been found to exhibit properties consistent with liquid-like condensates.here, the researchers report that in cells, MeCP2 is a component of a dynamic hetero-chromatic coagulation that is stimulated by DNA to form a liquid-like coagulation, contains multiple domains, contributes to the formation of the clot, shows the physicochemical properties of selectively concentrated heterogeneous chromatic cofactors, and RTT-related mutations affect its ability to form a clot.therefore, the researchers suggest that MeCP2 enhances the separation of heterogeneous/constant chromatin through its coagulation concentration properties, and that the destruction of clots may be a common consequence of mutations found in RTT patients..
