Content Introduction Chinese Abstract: Objective: To investigate the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of peripheral neuropathy caused by subacute n-hexane poisoning.
Innovation point: Subacute n-hexane poisoning is mainly manifested as multiple peripheral neuropathy, which is characterized by invisibility, long incubation period, and easy to cause misdiagnosis.
Based on our analysis of a series of cases, we recommend that doctors should consider the possibility of n-hexane poisoning in addition to neurological diseases when encountering patients with clinical manifestations of motor and sensory dysfunction.
In addition, the patient's occupation is also information that cannot be ignored for correct diagnosis.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of eight patients with occupational subacute n-hexane poisoning, most of them showed weakness and numbness of the limbs.
All patients have been treated in the local hospital, and the misdiagnosis rate is as high as 87.
5% (7/8).
Because n-hexane has no special antidote, after supportive treatment such as corticosteroids and neurotrophic drugs, as well as rehabilitation training and acupuncture treatment, most patients have a good prognosis and improved neuro-electrophysiology.
Conclusion: N-hexane poisoning can cause symptoms of peripheral nerve damage.
The electrophysiological performance of the patient is obviously abnormal.
After active treatment, the clinical prognosis is good. Keywords group: n-hexane; poisoning; EMG Author: Xiaping ZHANG, Yaling TONG, Yuanqiang LU article refers format: Xiaping ZHANG, Yaling TONG, Yuanqiang LU, 2021.
