The 7th Seminar on New Progress in Laboratory Diagnosis of STDs and AIDS and the 7th Workshop on Laboratory Diagnosis of Liver Disease Related to Liver Disease have been successfully held

, and the early diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases has been an important topic
in the field of public health.
In this process, timely and accurate medical diagnosis is like a "sharp weapon", which is an important way
to effectively prevent and treat infectious diseases.

Recently, the 7th Seminar on New Progress in Laboratory Diagnosis of STDs and AIDS and the 7th Liver Disease Related Laboratory Diagnosis Class, hosted by Beijing You'an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University and supported by Roche Diagnostics, was successfully held online.
The cutting-edge progress in the field of liver disease and the consensus of testing and clinical application, from theory to practice, clinical examination interaction, jointly promote the diagnosis and treatment management
    of infectious diseases.

Prevention of "AIDS" is the key
to early diagnosis At the 7th Symposium on New Progress in Laboratory Diagnosis of STDs and AIDS, Professor Zhang Tong of Beijing You'an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University summarized the detection and treatment of AIDS in combination with the latest "Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of AIDS in China (2021 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "2021 Edition of the Guidelines"

AIDS, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, is causative of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

As a global public health problem, the current situation of AIDS prevention and control is still grim
    .
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in 2021, there were 1.
5 million new HIV infections and about 650,000 deaths from HIV-related causes, and about 15% of people living with HIV are still unaware of their status
    .

    Professor Zhang Tong

    Affiliated to Capital Medical University

    Beijing You'an Hospital

Professor Zhang Tong said: "The stage of HIV infection is generally divided into acute phase, asymptomatic phase and AIDS stage
    .
Early symptoms of HIV infection are atypical and difficult to judge by clinical presentation, and testing is the only way
to know the status of HIV infection.
Early detection and early detection can better take treatment measures
    .

Professor Zhang Tong also explained the update and revision
of the diagnostic criteria of the 2021 version of the Guidelines at different stages of infection 。 For example, in the early stage of HIV infection, that is, stage I, adults and adolescents aged 15 (including 15 years old) and above with HIV infection can be diagnosed if one of the following conditions is met: (1) there is an epidemiological history within 3~6 months and/or acute HIV infection syndrome and/or persistent systemic lymphadenopathy (PGL); (2) The antibody screening test did not respond, and the two nucleic acid tests were positive; (3) HIV serum antibody positive within
    one year.
Diagnosis of stage I in HIV-infected children under 15 years of age is based on CD4+ T lymphocyte count and associated clinical findings
    .
    [1]

The 2021 version of the Guidelines points out that laboratory tests for HIV-infected patients mainly include HIV antibody testing, qualitative and quantitative HIV nucleic acid testing, CD4+ T lymphocyte count, HIV drug resistance testing, etc
    .
[2] Professor Zhang Tong said: "The period from HIV infection to the detection of antibodies, antigens or nucleic acids in the blood is called the window period
    .
At present, the latest generation of detection reagents can detect antigens and antibodies at the same time, and distinguish antigen and antibody results, which helps shorten the window period of detection, improve the efficiency of HIV screening, enable more patients with acute HIV infection to be discovered, and help clinical treatment and management of patients' conditions
    as soon as possible.

    Viral hepatitis
has always been a "silent killer" that threatens human health, and is currently mainly divided into five types
: type A (HAV), type B (HBV), type C (HCV), type D (HDV) and type E (HEV).
WHO data estimates that more than 350 million people worldwide have viral hepatitis B and C,[3] and more than 3,000 people die every day from liver disease caused by viral hepatitis, and nearly 90% of people with viral hepatitis are unaware of the disease
    .
    [4]

The screening and evaluation management of viral hepatitis is still the focus
    of China's health work.
At the 7th Liver Disease Related Laboratory Diagnosis Workshop, Professor Chen Xi of Jilin Hepatobiliary Hospital explained the important value
of viral hepatitis detection and health management in simple terms based on some key points of the 2021 Expert Consensus on Health Management of Viral Hepatitis (hereinafter referred to as the "2021 Consensus").

    Professor Chen Xi

    Jilin Provincial Hepatobiliary Hospital

Professor Chen Xi pointed out: "Globally, only about 10% of HBV infected people and 19% of HCV infected people know their infection and disease status
    .
[5] The World Health Organization proposed to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030 as the goal of public health harm, and health examination is currently one of the main ways to detect HBV and HCV infected people and patients in China, and it is recommended that viral hepatitis risk screening be included in daily physical examination
    .
    [6] "

The improvement of the diagnosis rate of viral hepatitis is inseparable from the support of strong testing technology, and laboratory examination methods mainly include serological testing, virological testing, biochemical testing, etc
。 Taking serological testing as an example, the 2021 version of the Consensus emphasizes that HBsAg detection reagents with high sensitivity and strong ability to identify and capture mutant strains and mutant antigens are especially recommended in HBV serological testing to avoid missed detection of HBsAg caused by gene mutations in the envelope region.
In HCV serology, it is recommended to use the double-antigen sandwich method to detect anti-HCV to obtain high sensitivity and specificity, thereby improving the accuracy of
    test results.

Regarding the screening and health management of HBV and HCV, Professor Chen Xi concluded: "It is recommended that health management physicians actively test for HBV infection screening in people ≥aged 18 years old, and take HBV serological markers such as HBsAg, anti-HBs and anti-HBc as the preferred method for HBV infection screening, and HCV serological antibody detection as the preferred method for HCV infection screening.
In addition, hierarchical management and health education should be carried out according to different disease stages, and the linkage and cooperation between health management and
    specialties should be strengthened.
    "

As a global leader in in vitro diagnostics, Roche Diagnostics is committed to providing advanced laboratory testing solutions to drive continuous progress
in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
In the field of AIDS, Roche Diagnostics Elecsys HIV Duo test adopts the sandwich method, and simultaneously detects HIV-1 p24 antigen and HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies, which greatly improves the efficiency of
HIV detection 。 In the field of viral hepatitis, Elecsys HBsAg quantitative detection uses electrochemiluminescence method, which has high clinical specificity and sensitivity, combined with cobas TaqMan HBV DNA quantitative detection can help clinical development of individualized treatment plans and optimize the treatment of chronic hepatitis B.
Elecsys Anti-HCV II detection has excellent sensitivity and specificity, fully automatic detection time of only 18 minutes, is ideal for early screening of hepatitis C antibodies, combined with cobas TaqMan HCV RNA detection, the minimum detection limit reaches 15 IU/mL, high sensitivity, can accurately determine the virus response status, effectively improve the level of
    clinical diagnosis and treatment.
