On January 12, 2022, Li Lei's research group from the School of Life Sciences of Peking University published a research paper titled " The PCY-SAG14 phytocyanin module regulated by PIFs and miR408 promotes dark-induced leaf senescence in Arabidopsis " in the journal PNAS online .
Leaves are the main organs of plants for photosynthesis, providing energy and substances for plant growth
In this study, dark-induced leaf senescence in Arabidopsis was used as an experimental system.
Figure 1.
Through further molecular biology experiments, the SAG14-PCY module was found to be repressed by a highly conserved microRNA in terrestrial plants, miR408, which in turn was inhibited by phytochrome-interacting factor PIF3, a known key transcription factor in dark-induced leaf senescence /4/5 inhibition

Researcher Li Lei from the School of Life Sciences of Peking University and Professor Deng Xingwang from the School of Modern Agriculture are the co-corresponding authors of the paper.
