On October 25, 2021, Plant Biotechnology Journal published an online publication entitled "Efficient A·T to G·C Base Conversions in Dicots Using Adenine Base Editors Expressed under the Tomato EF1α" Promoter" research paper
Many important agronomic traits of plants are related to single nucleotide polymorphisms
In order to screen for effective promoters driving ABEs in tomato, the researchers selected 7 different promoters to guide the expression of ABEs in tomato ( Ailsa Craig ) based on published RNA expression data , including 35S, AtUbi, ATRP5A, SlRPS5A1 , SlRPS5A2, SlTCTP and SlEF1α promoters (Figure 1a)
The researchers further confirmed the effectiveness of the ABEs editing system in soybean hairy roots
In summary, the pSlEF1α promoter selected based on our research significantly improves the single-base editing efficiency of the ABEs system in dicotyledonous plants, and provides a new idea for improving the editing efficiency of dicotyledonous plants.
Researcher Lang Zhaobo of the Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the corresponding author of the paper.
