Recently, researchers have compared the CSF biomarker pattern of Down’s syndrome with the CSF biomarker pattern of autosomal dominant Alzheimer’s disease mutation carriers to enhance the detection of these two Alzheimer’s disease.
- The study evaluated a total of 341 individuals (178 [52%] women, 163 [48%] men, 30-61 years old) of cerebrospinal fluid samples
The CSF biomarker pattern has many similarities in Down’s syndrome and autosomal dominant Alzheimer’s disease and therefore reflects a common pathway in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease, independent of the underlying initial genetic cause
