Tremor is one of the main signs of Parkinson's disease (PD).
This is a pathological therapy, and it is rapidly gaining popularity as the preferred treatment for severe ET cases, so it has been studied in patients with tremor-dominant PD (TDPD)
Several groups have reported short-term positive effects of the technology, but long-term follow-up data are not yet available
Several groups have reported short-term positive effects of the technology, but long-term follow-up data are not yet available
Immediately after the treatment, the tremor of the treatment arm of 23 patients was improved by 100%, and the tremor of the arm in 3 patients was improved by 90%
In 15 patients with leg tremor, 2 patients with chin tremor, and 1 patient with head tremor, the tremor was significantly improved
The tremor of 2 patients recovered completely, and the tremor of 8 patients partially recovered
At baseline, 4 patients did not receive any medications, while 3 at the last follow-up, 15 patients did not take levodopa, and 9 at the last follow-up
The important significance of this study lies in the findings: Unilateral FUS VIM-thalamotomy surgery for TDPD patients is effective and safe, and provides long-term tremor relief for most patients
Unilateral FUS VIM-thalamotomy procedure for TDPD patients is effective and safe
