Meige Syndrome is a clinically rare neurological disorder that is a type of segmented dystottia disorder, also known as idydic eyelid spasms-mouth jaw dystottia syndrome.
first reported by the French scholar Henry Meige in 1910, various forms of dystia, which mainly cause eyelid spasms, facial muscles, jaws and neck muscles, are found in middle-aged and elderly people.
the effectiveness and safety of the treatment of resusctic Meige syndrome (MS) with deep cerebral electrical stimulation (GPi-DBS) in pale balls on both sides, and evaluate preoperative and postoperative mental disorders.
: Retrospective analysis of 22 patients with MS treated with two-sided GPi-DBS continued preoperative and postoperative nerve stimulation.
patients were assessed with Burke-Fahn-Marsden Dystrofunction Assessment Scale (BFMDRS), Depression Self-Assessment Scale (SF-36) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PQSI) before surgery, corresponding to exercise symptoms, depression, quality of life, and sleep quality, respectively.
an implantable pulse generator 1 month after the operation.
were evaluated using the same scales as above, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after continuous neurostumulation.
results: BFMDRS sports score dropped from 15.0±5.3 before surgery to 3.5±4.5 in the 12 months after surgery, an average increase of 78% (p.lt;0.001).
BFMDRS disability score increased from 7.4±4.9 before surgery to 4.0±4.6 in the 12 months after surgery, with an average improvement of 56%.
SF-36 score was significantly improved compared to the baseline score.
82% of patients had a decrease in sleep quality before surgery, 64% had depression, and the quality of sleep did not improve after persistent nerve stimulation.
conclusion: Two-sided pale ball nerve stimulation is an effective way to treat resuscient multiple sclerosis, in addition to improving depression, but also improve the patient's motor symptoms and sleep quality.
