Behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by atrophy of the frontal and anterior temporal lobes.
The hexanucleotide amplification of the non-coding region of C9ORF72 was found to be the most common genetic abnormality in bvFTD and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
This article studies the clinical features of bvFTD syndrome, as well as the patient's subtle personality characteristics and early mental symptoms in life.
Research flow chart
The results showed that there were no significant differences between carriers and non-carriers in terms of education, occupation type, and number of intimate partners.
This article is the first in-depth study of biographical interviews of bvFTD patients with C9orf72RE, revealing that subtle personality traits may exist early in life.
