Obesity is a recognized risk factor for poor prognosis in women with early breast cancer .
The Breast Cancer Fund found that compared with women of normal weight , obese women had a 35% increase in breast cancer-related mortality at the time of breast cancer diagnosis , and an overall increase in mortality of 41%.
In both hormone receptor (HER) positive and hormone receptor negative breast cancers, obesity is associated with an increased risk of cancer recurrence and death.
Although the data are relatively limited, physical activity (PA) is increasingly considered to be linked to the outcome of breast cancer.
Compared with less active breast cancer survivors, breast cancer survivors who engaged in higher levels of PA after cancer diagnosis had a 37% lower risk of breast cancer-specific death.
In order to clarify the above relationship, an oncologist from the Dana Farber-Harvard Cancer Center in the United States conducted a CLGB 40502 study, and the results were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute JNCI.
A total of 799 patients were enrolled and followed up for a median of 60 months.

It can be seen that the proportion of patients with metastatic breast cancer who are obese and inactive is indeed very high.
