China's marine aquaculture industry has increased its production capacity from 500,000 tonnes in 2003 to 1.5m tonnes in 2019, which is what has attracted Japan's Marubeni to set up feed plants in China, Intrafish said on January 13.
Japan Maruben Group has built a good reputation in Japan's feed industry and saw better investment opportunities in the industry than in its home market, so it invested 850 million yen to set up a new feed plant in Tianjin.
Japan's Maruben Group said China's aquaculture production capacity is already 6.5 times that of Japan, and China's demand for aquatic feed is increasing accordingly and is expected to expand further.
Japan Marubeni Nisshin Feed, a 60 percent-owned subsidiary, will operate in China, and Marubeni Nisshin Feed has been studying china's aquatic feed market since 2015 and has increased brand awareness and product reputation in the Chinese market through contracted factories.
