JAMA: Professor Chen Huisheng's team found that remote ischemic adaptation can improve functional outcomes in patients with acute and moderate ischemic stroke (RICAMIS study)

On August 16, 2022, a multi-center, randomized controlled study (RICAMIS study) led by Professor Chen Huisheng, director of the Department of Neurology of the Northern Theater General Hospital and chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Cerebrovascular Disease Clinical Medicine Collaborative Innovation Alliance (CDCIA), was conducted in the American Medical Colleg.

Current status of ischemic stroke:

According to the latest "China Stroke Report 2020", there were 94 million new strokes in China in 2019 and 19 million deaths due to strok.

Evidence-based treatments for acute cerebral infarction currently include reperfusion therapy (intravenous thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy), antiplatelet therapy, and stroke unit.

What is remote ischemia-adaptive therapy:

Remote Ischemic Conditioning (RIC) refers to the induction of severe ischemia and hypoxia (such as cerebral infarction, Insufficient blood supply, vascular stenosis or occlusion) protection, to achieve the role of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease treatment and preventio.

Introduction to RICAMIS research:

This multicenter, open-label, blinded, randomized, controlled study was conducted in 55 centers in Chin.
