Acute Symptomatic Neonatalmedsci.
medsci.
The study was carried out in 9 neonatal epilepsy centers in the United States.
Of the 303 children, 194 (64%) continued to receive ASM treatment after discharge, 270 children completed the 24-month WIDEA-FS assessment, the average age of the children was 23.
Compared with the out-of-hospital continuous treatment group, the 24-month WIDEA-FS score of the ASMs termination group was similar to that of the out-of- hospital continuous treatment group, and the 24-month WIDEA-FS score of the ASMs termination group was similar to that of the out -of- hospital continuous treatment group.
Differences in functional neurodevelopmental outcome and risk of epilepsy recurrence between groups
According to the study, after the symptoms of children with acute symptomatic neonatal epilepsy are controlled, compared with the continued anti-epileptic drug treatment program outside the hospital, there is no significant difference in the 24-month functional neurodevelopment or the risk of epilepsy recurrence in the anti-epileptic drug treatment group.
