Carotid artery stenosis (CAS) is a common cause of ischemic stroke, and early detection of CAS can improve patient outcomes
Recently, a research article was published in JAHA, an authoritative journal in the field of cardiovascular diseases, which proposes a novel non-invasive and non-contact detection technology that uses video-based motion analysis (VMA) to extract the subtle pulses from the skin surface.
We prospectively enrolled 202 patients with carotid Doppler ultrasound data
Overall, 54% of the 202 subjects had ultrasound-confirmed carotid stenosis
It can be seen that the rapid screening of CAS using the VMA system is a simple and accurate screening technique with good feasibility, acceptable sensitivity and specificity
