The study included 242 patients with IGE and PGTCS taking 1-3 anti-epileptic drugs at the same time.
The patients were randomly assigned and received ≥1 dose of the trial drug (lacosamide/placebo: n=121/n=121).
During the 24-week treatment period, the second PGTCS risk of lacosamide was significantly lower than that of placebo (Kaplan-Meier survival estimate was 55.
In summary, the results of the study show that Laxam is effective and safe as an adjuvant treatment for uncontrolled PGTCS in IGE patients.
