With the popularization of "Healthy China" and "Three Reduction and Three Health" actions, weight management and weight loss nutrition guidance have ushered in rapid development
In December 2019, Professor Mark Mattson of Johns Hopkins University published a review article "The Effects of Intermittent Fasting on Health, Aging and Disease" in the authoritative medical journal "The New England Journal of Medicine" (NEJM).
Mattson points out in the article that a series of animal and human studies have shown that the many health benefits of intermittent fasting go beyond reducing free radical production or weight loss and triggering evolutionarily conserved adaptive cellular responses, that is It triggers metabolic switching mechanisms that benefit cell health
However, Mattson also noted in the article that because clinical studies mainly involve several months and the intervention period is relatively short, it remains to be determined whether people can maintain intermittent fasting for many years and possibly gain the benefits observed in animal models
Even so, Mattson believes that with patient guidance, most people can incorporate intermittent fasting into their lives
Intermittent fasting, as an emerging weight loss concept, refers to a method in which the body periodically alternates between fasting and feeding, and the calorie intake on fasting days is extremely low or zero
One is time-restricted eating.
The second is periodic fasting, fasting or a small amount of calorie intake for 1-2 days per week, such as 5:2 light fasting, that is, 5 days of normal eating, 2 days of light fasting, and 2 days of light fasting is normal eating 1/4 of the amount
The third is to fast every other day, eat and drink freely one day, fast or a small amount of calorie intake the next day, that is, the calorie restriction does not exceed 500 kcal every other day, and then eat normally for the next day, and so
In fact, there are many studies on intermittent fasting at present, but most of them are still at the level of animal experiments.
In short, there are thousands of ways to lose weight.
