Thanks to a new law, New York State residents and businesses will soon be able to recycle their unwanted paint .
This new law has been overwhelmingly approved by the New York State Legislature and was approved by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Signed on December 18.
Paint , according to the New York Board of product management, it said, according to the paint recovery and recycling program management industry will recover more than 2 million gallons of paint each year.
Currently, almost all unnecessary paint is discarded in landfills or waste energy facilities for disposal.
This new plan will create millions of gallons of paint reprocessing jobs for the recycling sector for reuse and recycling, and reduce the financial burden of * management that local governments now bear.
The plan is expected to take effect in early 2021 and will provide hundreds of convenient drop-off locations throughout the state.
When residents and companies discard unwanted paint for recycling, there will be no cost; the funds to run the project are included in the cost of the new paint.
New York is the tenth state (with the exception of the District of Columbia) to adopt this program, which will be managed by PaintCare, a non-profit organization for the coatings industry created by the American Coatings Association.
Other states that have enacted similar legislation in the past few years include Oregon, California, Colorado, Minnesota, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Washington and Vermont, and the District of Columbia.
