Toray Advanced Composites and BASF signed a manufacturing and supply agreement focusing on the production of continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastics ("CFRT") strips for the automotive and industrial markets.
Ultratape B3EG12 UD 01 black is a single-layer strip completely impregnated with PA6 , with 60% by weight of unidirectional glass fiber Toray advanced composite material will use the Ultramid® engineering thermoplastic developed and produced by BASF to manufacture high-quality and affordable CFRT tape, the fiber manufacturer will use glass fiber or carbon fiber to reinforce BASF's Ultramid PA6resin .
Keisuke Ishii, CEO of Toray Advanced Composites, said: "For many years, BASF has been Toray's most important partner for Advanced Composites.
This new supply agreement enhances our ability to manufacture the highest quality and affordable strips for our customers.
ability.
" the supply agreement improves productivity, provides greater scope for the commercial use CFRT, which will help in a wide range of industrial markets such advanced materials for lightweight structural components.
Using CFRT materials, automakers will be able to design and quickly produce optimized parts at a lower cost, while also being able to use the latest manufacturing methods, such as automated stamping and overmolding.
Jeff DeAlmeida BASF's North American vice president of high-performance materials transportation industry, said: "By developing innovative applications for automotive lightweight composite technology, this partnership underscores our two companies committed to promoting sustainable solutions firm commitment.
" East The CFRT of Lai Advanced Composites is compatible with BASF's wide range of Ultramid compounds, which allows multifunctional parts to be produced efficiently in fewer processing steps and in a more labor-saving manner than many traditional methods.
BASF's Ultramid products include unique and innovative materials developed for optimized structural applications.
