    The capacity of a cell to produce an embryo is not limited to the development of the fertilized egg. Cells of differentiated tissues (somatic tissues), which are first submitted to the action of an auxin and secondly transferred to a new medium without auxin, are capable of producing embryos (Fig. 1 ). It seems that the influence of a hormone, such as auxin, rejuvenates the cell so much that it reacquires the capacity of a zygote to produce an embryo.
