According to the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration's Taipei Weekly Food Import Report on Tuesday: 19 ships were refused entry by local customs, 7 of which were carrying 4,4396 kilograms of instant noodles, of which 4,074 kilograms were Indonesian cups of Mie Sedap brand instant noodles, and 326 kilograms were Cup-packed Lucky Me instant noodles in the Philippines
All instant noodles are imported by Taiwan ELOM group company
In view of the fact that most of the instant noodles contaminated with pesticide residues come from Indonesia, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration said that the customs will increase the sampling rate of imported food from Indonesia: from 5% to 10% to about 20%
The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration said all food and beverages denied entry due to violations will be returned or destroyed
