the information of the Hong Kong Safety Center (CFS) on the recall of Indonesia's Mi Sedaap brand of instant noodles on September 27, 2022.
BPOM clarified that pesticide residues of ethylene oxide were detected in the dried noodles, paprika and seasonings of the Korean spicy chicken noodles of the Mi Sedaap brand that did not comply with Hong Kong regulations
.
According to the BPOM survey, the instant noodle products extracted in Hong Kong are different from the same brand products circulating in Indonesia, and the products circulating in Indonesia meet the existing requirements
.
However, to protect public health, BPOM takes the following measures:
(1) Continuously follow up on this incident and require the relevant food safety departments to clarify and explain the test results;
(2) BPOM will conduct a policy review of ethylene oxide and its derivatives in instant noodles;
(3) BPOM will continue to monitor the latest developments related to international food safety regulations and standards and conduct sampling and testing to determine the content levels and exposure levels of these compounds in products
