India's agricultural and processed food exports in the first six months of fiscal year 2022-23 (April to September) increased by 25%
compared to the same period in FY 2021-22, the World Agrochemical Network Chinese reported.

From April to September 2022, the total exports of the Agriculture and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA) increased to $13.
    771 billion
    from $11.
056 billion in the previous fiscal year.

    ▼ The importance of APEDA

The initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry through APEDA have helped the country achieve 58%
of its total export target for 2022-23 in the first six months of this fiscal year.
APEDA has set an export target of $23.
56 billion for the agricultural and processed food direction for FY 2022-23, having already achieved $13.
    77 billion
in the first six months of the fiscal year.

    ▼ DGCI&S data

According to raw data from DGCI&S, processed fruits and vegetables increased by 42.
    42% (April-September 2022), while fresh fruit increased by 4%
compared to the same period last year.
In addition, cereals and other processed foods increased by 29.
    36%
compared to the first half of last year.

Fresh fruit exports were US$301 million from April to September 2021, rising to US$313 million
in the same period of the fiscal year.
Food and beverage processing exports jumped to $1.
024 billion in six months of the fiscal year, up from $
719 million in the same period last year.

▼ Reasons for the increase in export value

The increase in exports of agricultural and processed foods is the result of the Centre's aggressive actions to promote agricultural and processed food exports, such as organizing B2B exhibitions in different countries and exploring potential markets
through the development of specific products and general marketing activities with the active participation of the Indian Embassy.

The government has also undertaken a number of initiatives to promote GI-registered products in India, including online buyer-seller meetings on agricultural and food products from the UAE and online meetings
with the United States on GI-enabled products, including handicrafts.

The Centre recently organized a conference in Guwahati, Assam, through APEDA, to increase exports of natural, organic and GI agricultural products from the North East states
    .
The objective is to promote the export
of natural, organic and GI agricultural products grown in Assam and neighbouring countries by creating international market links.
