    According to statistics from the Ecuadorian Aquaculture Chamber of Commerce (CNA), in May 2022, the export volume of Ecuadorian shrimp increased by 29% year-on-year to 95,000 tons, setting a new historical record, and the export value reached US$610 million, a year-on-year increase of 5
     
    In May, sales of Ecuadorian shrimp products to the main markets of China, the United States and Europe were very strong, with exports of 304 million US dollars, 130 million US dollars and 110 million US dollars respective.
    Strong demand from the consumer market has boosted prices, and Ecuador's white shrimp exports have also hit record hig.
     
    Exports to China were the brightest in May, reaching 49,000 tonnes, up 56% year-on-ye.
    Exports to the United States were 18,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14%, and exports to Europe were 17,500 tons, an increase of 8% year-on-ye.
     
    In the first five months of 2022, Ecuador's total white shrimp exports reached 416,000 tons, more than Vietnam's exports for the whole ye.
     
    In May, the average export price of Ecuadorian shrimp was stable at US$40 to US$50 per kilogram, up 16% from the same period last ye.
    The increase in exports has somewhat mitigated the impact of inflation on the farming and processing chain, and relatively high prices have also offset rising farming costs in Ecuad.
