Researchers from the Environmental Toxicology Discipline Group of the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences use human brain microvascular endothelial cells as the in vitro blood-brain barrier model, and the transgenic zebrafish ( TG flk1 : EGFP ) provided by the National Zebrafish Resource Center as the living blood-brain barrier model , new contaminants tetrabromophthalate ester bis ( bIS (2-ethylhexyl) -3,4,5,6-tetrabromophthalate, TBPH ) as the object of study, the blood-brain barrier and its ability to penetrate the blood-brain of The impact of barrier structure and function, and the resulting neurotoxic effects were evaluated
The results from the study showed that body, TBPH to 6 approximately hours Tanswell reached equilibrium chamber on both sides of the substrate, which is far below the apparent permeability coefficient reference fluorescein sodium ( NAFL ), showed TBPH lower ability to penetrate the blood brain barrier ; But TBPH can increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier without affecting cell viability (Figure 1 )

Further in vivo studies have found that TBPH can increase the permeability of the zebrafish blood-brain barrier, which may be due to the fact that TBPH can interact with tight junction proteins, thereby affecting its structural integrity

As a new brominated flame retardants ( novel brominated flame retardants, NBFRs ), the content of TBPH in China's environment and biological media has increased rapidly, and has even surpassed traditional BFRs to become one of the most important NBFRs pollutants
