    The role of microRNA in cells

    The regulation of miR-aU14 comes from the virus itself


    Through this pathway, viral miR-aU14 induces mitochondrial fragmentation


    Thus, viral miR-aU14 interferes with the production of the type I interferon messenger substance through which cells signal the presence of the virus to the immune system


    The researchers now want to understand the exact mechanism by which viral microRNAs activate the virus


    This work from Würzburg shows for the first time that one microRNA can directly regulate the maturation process of other microRNAs
