For older patients who show cystic lesions on plain scan, which may be cysticercosis, if the cyst is not very smooth, you should be highly alert to the possibility of metastasis.
Enhanced scanning of the cyst wall can confirm the diagnosis

Most brain metastases have imaging changes of necrotic cysts
.
