    Colitis under the microscope has a common mechanism for causing disease with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)Researchers recently used data from a national queue study to examine the relationship between microcolitis and the risk of IBD eventsresearchers collected data on patients with colitis under the microscope in Sweden from 1990 to 2017, comprising a total of 13,957 patients in 28 medical centers, and recruited a general population control (N-66820) and a disease-free sibling (N-13943)as of December 2017, a total of 323 cases of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) had been confirmed in patients with colitis under the microscope, compared with 94 CASEs of UC and 42 CD cases in the general populationThe average time of conoritis to UC diagnosis under the microscope was 3.2 years and CD was 3.3 yearsIn the multifactor model, the CD risk was 12.6 in patients with colitis under the microscope, 17.3 for UC and 16.8 for IBDThe absolute additional risk for 10-year CDs is 0.9 and UC is 2.6In sensitivity analysis, the risks of CD and UC were 5.4 and 9.4, respectively, compared to unaffected siblingsstudies have shown a significant increase in the risk of inflammatory bowel disease in patients with microcolitis
