Experts from the Committee on Regulatory Standards participated in the 40th International Codex Conference on Nutrition and Special Dietary Foods.

at the enthusiastic invitation of the Federal Government of Germany, the 40th International Codex Committee on Nutrition and Special Dietary Foods (40CCNFSDU) was held in Berlin, Germany, from 26 to 30 November 2018. More than 300 representatives from 73 member States, one member organization and 41 international organizations participated in the meeting.
The Chinese delegation was composed of personnel from the National Health And Health Commission, the State Administration of Market Supervision, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food Assessment Center, the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Protection Agency, and relevant trade associations. Han Junhua, deputy director of the Committee on Regulatory Standards of the Chinese Nutrition Society, is the head and spokesman of the Chinese delegation.

The meeting was attended by a wide range of topics, including revisions to product definitions, labelling and advertising requirements in the Codex STAN 156-1987 standard for larger infants and young children, discussion of ready-to-eat therapeutic food standards for severely malnourished children, definition of bio-reinforced, long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid DHA /EPA NRV-NCD values (nutrient reference values for the prevention of chronic noncommunicable diseases), "0" trans fatty acid claims requirements and conditions, NRV-R values for older infants and young children (nutrient references to meet needs), guidelines for the use of probiotics in food and dietary supplements, general guidelines for establishing nutrient profiles, etc.
chinese delegation had made full preparations before the meeting and had participated in a number of electronic working groups. A symposium was organized before the meeting to form an expert consensus, the Food Division of the National Health and Health Commission was submitted to the draft of the participants' calibre, and the head of delegation and spokesman were elected. During the meeting, the Chinese delegation made many positive statements, combined with china's standard status quo and relevant research data, on the larger infant and young children formula food labeling requirements, long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids DHA/EPA NRV-NCD value, "0" trans fatty acid claims, larger infants and young children NRV-R value, food and dietary supplements using probiotic guidelines and other content to explain China's views, and actively communicate with representatives of international organizations, delegations.
