A recent study by researchers from the University of Delaware showed that exercise can promote a child's vocabulary growth
Children between the ages of 6 and 12 learn new words before doing one of the following three things-swimming, participating in a comprehensive fitness exercise or completing a coloring sheet
Lead researcher Maddy Pruitt thinks this makes sense
So, why is there a difference in swimming, but not in mixed fitness? Pruitt attributed it to the energy demand of the brain for each exercise
Pruitt conducted this research as part of her master's capstone project, graduating in 2020
"My treatment is rarely done at the dinner table," she said
Pruitt's consultant and co-author Giovanna Morini (Giovanna Morini) is further studying these findings in her laboratory
Morini said: "We are very excited about this research, because it is applicable to clinicians, nurses and educators, they can put it into practice
