Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia, and early diagnosis is important for appropriate treatment of AD to slow cognitive decline and reduce symptoms
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia, and early diagnosis is important for appropriate treatment of AD to slow cognitive decline and reduce symptoms
At this stage , several studies have reported that QSM showed increased susceptibility in the brain parenchyma of patients with AD or MCI .
Recently, a study published in the journal European Radiology developed a diagnostic index based on a mixed sequence of QSM and VBM to quantify disease progression in AD, providing a new assessment compared to conventional VBM without increasing acquisition time.
This study included 37 AD patients, 24 AD-induced mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients, and 36 cognitively normal (NC) subjects from four centers .

When voxels are extracted as increased susceptibility in the parietal lobe (AD > NC) and reduced gray matter volume in the limbic system (AD > NC)
This study proposes a new diagnostic index based on mixed sequence analysis of QSM and VBM for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease
